Do you want to learn how to meditate?
Meditation is a practice that has so many incredible benefits to our health & well-being. Meditation has helped me tremendously and I hope it will help you too! Today, I am sharing the steps to starting a meditation practice. This is for beginners who have never meditated before!
Let's get started:
Step 1: Set an intention for your Meditation practice. Why do you want to meditate? What are you hoping to get out of this meditation practice?
Step 2: Find a comfortable space that is free of distractions.
Step 3: Sit down in a comfortable seated or lying down position. If you are like me, and fall asleep extremely easily, do not meditate laying down with your eyes closed! If your intention is to stay conscious and aware during your meditation practice, find a seated position with your spine erect. You can place your hands facing down if you want to feel more "grounded', or you can have them facing up for "receiving".
Step 4: Set a timer for yourself. I recommend 5-10 minutes if this is your first time meditating.
Step 5: Time to meditate! Close down your eyes and connect with your breathing. Watch the full video for a guided practice! The goal is to stay connected to the breath and be present, while becoming aware of the thoughts coming in.
The final thing I always like to do after meditation is reflect. First, we want to reconnect to the initial intention from step 1: how did you do? Send yourself lots of love for showing up and doing this practice!
